President of Kyrgyzstan Arrives in Pakistan for Maiden State Visit

Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Zhaparov has arrived in Islamabad for a two-day maiden state visit, leading a high-level delegation that includes senior cabinet ministers, top officials, and prominent business leaders.

The visiting dignitary was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari and honored with a 21-gun salute, underscoring the significance of the engagement.

The visit, which comes on the invitation of PM Shehbaz Sharif, is set to further strengthen the longstanding relations between the two nations, which are rooted in shared cultural, historical, and spiritual affinities.

Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic have recently focused on boosting their bilateral cooperation, including agreements in August to promote partnerships in cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and digital finance.

Furthermore, the countries had earlier reaffirmed their commitment to significantly increase bilateral trade to $100 million at a session of their intergovernmental commission in July.

Beyond their bilateral ties, both nations are also key members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a 10-nation Eurasian security and political grouping, providing another platform for mutual collaboration and regional stability.
