Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Nehal Hashmi, was sworn in as the new governor of Sindh on Friday, following his appointment a day earlier. The oath was administered by Zafar Ahmed Rajput, Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, during a ceremony held in Karachi.

Several prominent political figures attended the event, including Saeed Ghani and Nasir Hussain Shah from the Pakistan Peoples Party. The ceremony was broadcast on television, marking Hashmi’s formal assumption of office as the provincial governor.
Speaking to the media after taking the oath, Hashmi expressed his commitment to serving the people of Karachi and Sindh, promising to pursue political dialogue, honesty, and dedication in addressing public issues.

His appointment was approved by Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, after a recommendation by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He replaces Kamran Tessori of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan, whose removal sparked criticism from the party.
