Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), today voiced Pakistan’s full support for the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) advanced by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The statement was delivered during the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Roundtable Dialogue in Beijing.
Addressing representatives from international organizations and think tanks, Ambassador Mahmood underscored that the GGI’s principles—advocating for a more inclusive, democratic, and efficient global governance system—align perfectly with Pakistan’s strategic interests, particularly in fostering a fairer world order for the Global South.
Ambassador Mahmood called upoan SCO member states to spearhead the implementation of the GGI. He emphasized that the initiative, which prioritizes multilateralism and the upholding of international law, is crucial for revitalizing institutions like the United Nations to effectively address pressing global challenges.
He stressed that Pakistan is committed to strengthening cooperation, reinforcing security frameworks, and empowering developing nations in line with the SCO’s shared vision for equitable development.
