Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson, Shafqat Ali Khan, today affirmed that Pakistan had exercised its right to self-defense in response to unprovoked assaults along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The Spokesperson confirmed that Pakistan’s defensive responses effectively repulsed the attacks and inflicted heavy losses on Taliban forces and allied militant groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
Mr. Khan maintained that Pakistan’s action was a “targeted and precise defensive response,” carried out with extreme caution to avoid civilian casualties. He strongly cautioned Kabul over the continued militant presence enjoying “freedom of activities” in Afghanistan—a fact, he noted, that is well-documented in United Nations Monitoring Team reports.
The Spokesperson called upon the Taliban regime to honor its commitment not to allow its territory to be used for terrorism against other countries and demanded concrete and verifiable actions against militant groups. He reiterated that while Pakistan prefers diplomacy and regional stability, its security concerns must be addressed.
