Speaking at a joint press conference following the talks, PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep gratitude for the “exceptionally warm welcome,” describing Malaysia as a “second home”. New Era of Economic Collaboration
The central theme of the visit was a joint commitment to enhance economic ties through mutually beneficial projects. PM Shehbaz Sharif publicly announced Pakistan’s desire to “join hands” with Malaysia, not just to benefit from its expertise but to establish joint ventures across multiple sectors. Pakistan specifically seeks to leverage Malaysian experience in technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and promoting trade and investment.
A significant outcome of the meeting was PM Ibrahim’s expressed interest in increasing meat imports from Pakistan. PM Shehbaz welcomed this, assuring that Pakistan would meet all necessary quality controls, including rigorous Halal certification and market price mechanisms, to achieve and surpass the indicated quota of up to $200 million.
PM Ibrahim also encouraged cooperation in Information Technology and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), recognizing Pakistan’s strong foundational potential in these fields. The two leaders later witnessed the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at deepening cross-sectoral collaboration.

Diplomatic Alignment on Global Issues
On the diplomatic front, the leaders discussed establishing peace in the subcontinent and joint efforts for countering terrorism. Crucially, PM Ibrahim stated he was “extremely appreciative” of Pakistan’s clear and firm stance on the Palestine and Gaza issue. Both nations jointly endorsed the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities to achieve durable peace in the Palestinian enclave.
The visit, which commenced with a guard of honour for the Pakistani delegation, is set to open a new chapter of enduring partnership between the two brotherly Muslim nations.
