Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, along with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, has concluded a three-day official visit to Iran. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit focused on efforts to achieve sustainable peace in the region, with particular emphasis on the evolving security environment, ongoing diplomatic engagements, and collaborative measures to promote lasting stability.
Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir has completed a three-day visit to Tehran, during which he met with top Iranian leaders and negotiators as part of efforts to end the war with the US, the Pakistani military said in a statement.

During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and the commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, Major General Ali Abdollahi.
The CDF expressed deep appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Iranian leadership and conveyed sincere regards and best wishes from the President, Prime Minister, and the people of Pakistan. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the historic and brotherly ties between the two countries.
“The visit reflects Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to facilitate a negotiated settlement to the Middle East conflict and to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region,” the ISPR statement said.
Field Marshal Munir underscored the importance of dialogue, de-escalation, and peaceful resolution of outstanding issues through sustained diplomatic efforts.
This visit is part of Pakistan’s broader mediation role in the US-Iran conflict. Earlier this month, Pakistan hosted the first round of direct US-Iran talks in Islamabad — the highest-level engagement between the two countries in over four decades. Although no final agreement was reached after more than 21 hours of negotiations, both sides have indicated that the diplomatic channel remains open.
The current two-week ceasefire, brokered with Pakistan’s facilitation, is set to expire on April 22. While it has held so far, the situation remains delicate amid continued tensions, including the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.
On Friday, Iranian Interior Minister Eskander Momini thanked Pakistan for its efforts in achieving the ceasefire and advancing reconciliation, according to a communication received through the Interior Ministry.
Pakistan continues to play a central role in urging de-escalation and keeping communication channels active between Washington and Tehran.
