Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), conducted a comprehensive visit to the flood-affected areas of Kasur and Multan to personally assess the ongoing rescue and relief operations. The visit aimed to enhance synergy and coordination between the Pakistan Army and civil administration to ensure timely and effective assistance for the affected population.
Enhancing Civil-Military Coordination
During his visit, COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was accompanied by Chief Secretary Punjab and other senior officials from the civil administration. He received a detailed briefing on the ground situation, including the scale of the damage and the rescue and relief efforts being conducted in both the Kasur and Jalalpur Pirwala sectors.
In his interaction with civil administration officials, the Army Chief emphasized the critical importance of good governance and a people-centric approach to progress. He stressed that all necessary measures, including infrastructural development, must be expedited to protect citizens from the devastating impact of frequent floods. He underscored that the state cannot afford the annual loss of precious lives and properties. The Chief of Army Staff reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at public welfare and national security.
Interactions with Flood Affectees and Relief Personnel
The COAS also met with individuals affected by the floods, who had been successfully evacuated by the Pakistan Army and the civil administration. He listened to their accounts and assured them of continued support from the military in their resettlement and rehabilitation efforts. The affectees expressed profound gratitude to the Pakistan Army for their timely and dedicated assistance during this critical time.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also met with troops, Rescue 1122 personnel, and police officials engaged in the relief operations. He lauded their high morale, operational readiness, and steadfast dedication to serving the nation under extremely challenging circumstances. He commended their round-the-clock efforts, carried out in close coordination with the civil administration, to provide timely relief and assistance to the people.
Aerial Reconnaissance
To gain a firsthand perspective of the extensive damage, COAS also undertook an aerial reconnaissance of the flood-affected areas along both the Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala axes. This allowed him to assess the scale of the devastation and the efficacy of the ongoing relief operations from a strategic viewpoint.
Upon his arrival, the Field Marshal was received by the Corps Commanders of Lahore and Multan Corps, respectively, who briefed him on the local operational and relief efforts.
