Leadership Shakeup: DP World Boss Ousted Over Jeffrey Epstein Emails

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem resigned as chairman and CEO of DP World, the Dubai-based logistics giant and owner of P&O Ferries. The sudden exit follows the release of hundreds of emails by the U.S. Department of Justice, revealing a “free-flowing” relationship between Sulayem and the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In some messages, Sulayem allegedly rated sexual encounters and exchanged notes with Epstein about a “torture video,” making his position untenable as international partners began cutting ties.

Pressure peaked this week when major financial backers, including Canada’s La Caisse pension fund and the UK’s British International Investment (BII), paused future ventures with the firm. Following Sulayem’s departure, BII signaled it would resume its African port projects, calling the move a necessary step for the partnership. Sulayem, a pillar of Dubai’s economic rise for four decades, is the highest-profile corporate casualty of the recent “Epstein Files” transparency push in the U.S. Congress.
