CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Pledges Rs10 Billion for Balochistan Security

On February 10, 2026, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif arrived in Quetta for a landmark one-day official visit, signaling a unified front against the recent surge in regional militancy. Welcomed by Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, her visit follows the January 31 terror wave that saw security forces neutralize 216 militants during “Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1.” In a major show of inter-provincial solidarity, Maryam Nawaz announced a Rs10 billion financial assistance package specifically to enhance the professional capacity of Balochistan’s security forces.

During her stay, the Chief Minister visited the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters and met with the families of martyrs, expressing deep sympathy and reaffirming the state’s resolve to protect its citizens. In a joint session with the Balochistan cabinet, she emphasized that “terrorism knows no borders” and offered Punjab’s full administrative and intelligence resources to combat Fitna al-Khawarij. CM Sarfraz Bugti lauded the visit and the funding as “timely and commendable,” noting that such cooperation is essential for restoring peace in the restive province.

The visit also focused on long-term development, with both leaders agreeing to share governance strategies and strengthen people-to-people connections. Maryam Nawaz’s trip marks her first official visit to another province since assuming office, framing Balochistan’s stability as a prerequisite for a prosperous Pakistan.
