Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, leading a senior defense delegation, met with his Pakistani counterpart, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, to explore a strategic partnership that marks a significant deepening of military ties between the two nations. Beyond the JF-17 discussions, Pakistan committed to fast-tracking the delivery of Super Mushshak trainer aircraft and providing long-term maintenance support for Bangladesh’s aging fleet. The BAF chief also sought assistance in integrating air defense radar systems to bolster national airspace surveillance. The JF-17 Thunder, jointly developed by Pakistan and China, has seen its international profile rise following its performance in recent regional conflicts, most notably the May 2025 aerial battle with India, where it was credited with downing multiple advanced fighters. This diplomatic engagement follows a period of shifting regional dynamics, as Bangladesh seeks to modernize its military while diversifying its strategic alliances.
