Pakistan Slams British Representative’s Remarks on Pak-Afghan Border Situation

The Foreign Office (FO) has issued a response to a social media post by the British Special Representative for Afghanistan, Richard Lindsay, regarding recent developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The FO spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, stated that Lindsay’s remarks lacked a deeper understanding of the situation.

Andrabi emphasized that cross-border aggression and terrorist infiltration attempts from the Afghan side have persisted despite Pakistan’s temporary pause, announced in March 2026, of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq. Since that pause, indiscriminate and unprovoked cross-border attacks by the Afghan Taliban, and terrorist activities by Afghan Taliban-supported Indian proxies inside Pakistan, have resulted in the martyrdom of 52 civilians and 84 injuries.

Pakistan has responded effectively by precisely targeting Afghan Taliban posts and terrorist support infrastructure, while also thwarting multiple infiltration attempts. The FO spokesperson asserted that Afghan claims of civilian casualties due to Pakistan’s responses lack evidential credibility.

The FO urged a better understanding of regional dynamics, Pakistan’s principled stance, and the sacrifices made by the people of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.

Minister Condemns Taliban Attacks on Civilians

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has strongly condemned the recent spate of Afghan Taliban attacks deliberately targeting civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s border districts, calling them unacceptable and reflective of a barbaric nature towards human life.

The minister highlighted civilian casualties and pointed to the targeting of civilians, including an incident where three civilians playing cricket were injured.

Tarar reiterated that Pakistan targets only terrorist infrastructure, sharing information promptly and transparently with the public. He affirmed that Pakistan’s fight against terrorists and their abettors is based on truth, principles, honour, resolve, and faith.
