Pakistan Security Forces Down Indian Surveillance Drone in Lahore

LAHORE, Pakistan – August 8, 2025 – Pakistani security forces have successfully shot down an Indian surveillance drone that illegally entered the country’s airspace in the Manawan area of Lahore. The incident was confirmed by police and security sources, with the recovered device now in the custody of intelligence agencies for a detailed investigation.

The drone, identified as a hexacopter model, was detected while conducting reconnaissance within Pakistani territory. Security personnel successfully engaged and brought down the unmanned aerial vehicle, which was found to have no explosives on board.

The incursion and subsequent action highlight the continued vigilance and readiness of Pakistan’s military to defend its sovereignty. The incident comes amidst heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan, which were previously embroiled in a brief conflict earlier this year. That confrontation, sparked by an attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), saw Pakistani forces reportedly down six Indian fighter jets and numerous drones before a U.S.-brokered ceasefire was implemented.

This latest violation of airspace by India has raised concerns about a potential escalation of tensions, and Pakistan’s government and security establishment remain on high alert. A full report on the incident is expected to be released following the completion of the intelligence investigation.
