President Pezeshkian Warns of Global Chaos Amid U.S.-Israeli Strikes

In a post on the social media platform X, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a dire warning to the international community on Friday, stating that the current “U.S. aggression” against Iran is setting a dangerous new precedent. Pezeshkian argued that the targeted assassinations of senior Iranian officials, whom he referred to as “martyred leaders” threaten to dismantle established global legal norms. He warned that if the world fails to take a firm stand against these actions, the resulting “flames” of instability will eventually “burn many” beyond the borders of the Middle East.

The President’s comments follow a series of high-profile losses for the Iranian leadership since “Operation Epic Fury” began on February 28. Most recently, Iran confirmed the death of Ali Larijani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike earlier this week. Larijani was widely considered a central figure in managing the country’s day-to-day operations following the reported death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the war’s opening day. Pezeshkian’s rhetoric emphasizes a growing “crisis of legitimacy” for the conflict, as several traditional U.S. allies have recently declined to participate in military efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
