Today, the nation marks the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, with immense gratitude and a renewed pledge to uphold his principles of “Unity, Faith, and Discipline.”
As the country observes this auspicious occasion, the government and people of Pakistan pay tribute to the man whose steadfast resolve and political genius fundamentally reshaped the map of the world.
The Architect of a Nation
Born on December 25, 1876, in Karachi, Muhammad Ali Jinnah rose from a brilliant legal practitioner to become the “Great Leader” (Quaid-e-Azam). His journey from the halls of Lincoln’s Inn to the leadership of the All-India Muslim League was marked by an unwavering commitment to the constitutional rights of Muslims in the subcontinent.
Jinnah’s seminal role in the creation of Pakistan remains a unique feat in modern history. Unlike many revolutionary leaders who relied on armed struggle, the Quaid-e-Azam utilized the power of logic, constitutional law, and democratic mobilization. His leadership during the Pakistan Movement transformed a fragmented community into a unified nation, culminating in the independence of Pakistan on August 14, 1947.
A Vision for Modern Pakistan
Beyond the struggle for independence, the Quaid-e-Azam envisioned Pakistan as a state where social justice, equality, and the rule of law would prevail. His historic address to the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947, remains the guiding light for an inclusive Pakistan:
“You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed—that has nothing to do with the business of the State.”
National Celebrations
The day commenced with special prayers for the prosperity of the country and a change of guards ceremony at the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi. Educational institutions and government offices are hosting seminars and exhibitions to educate the youth on the Quaid’s life and the sacrifices made during the freedom movement.
