Trump Offers Hospital Ship to Greenland
Donald Trump has said he plans to send a US hospital ship to Greenland, claiming that many people on the Arctic island are sick and “not being taken care of.” Writing on Truth Social, Trump said a boat filled with medical supplies was “on the way,” and shared an image that appeared to show the US Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy.
It is not clear whether an official mission has been approved or what prompted the announcement. The post came shortly after Denmark’s Arctic Command evacuated a sick crew member from a US submarine near Nuuk.

Greenland’s PM Responds: “Talk to Us”
Greenland’s Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, quickly responded with a firm but calm message. He thanked Trump for the offer but said, “It’s going to be a no thanks from us.” Nielsen stressed that Greenland has a public healthcare system that provides free treatment for all citizens. He added that, unlike in the United States, people in Greenland do not have to pay to see a doctor. Most importantly, he urged Trump to speak directly with Greenland’s leaders instead of making what he called “random outbursts on social media.”
Tensions Over Greenland’s Future
Trump has long shown interest in Greenland, even floating the idea of US control in the past. Although he recently said he would not take the island by force, talks of a future US-Greenland deal continue, raising fresh political tensions.
