Imran Khan ‘Perfectly Fine’ but Angry, Sister Claims After Jail Visit

Uzma Khanum, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, stated on Tuesday that her incarcerated brother’s health is “perfectly fine,” aiming to dispel recent rumours about his well-being. However, following a 30-minute meeting at Adiala Jail, she conveyed that the former premier was “very disturbed and very angry,” alleging that he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, are being subjected to severe “mental torture” through solitary confinement and strict restrictions on communication.

Uzma Khanum stated that Khan is confined to his cell most of the day, with contact with anyone else severely limited for weeks. The meeting occurred amidst protests by PTI members outside the Islamabad High Court and Adiala Jail, who demand the restoration of visitation rights after family and leaders were denied access for an extended period, which Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi claimed had been since late October.

The former prime minister also issued a strong directive to the PTI, urging them to support candidates Salman Akram Raja and Hamid Khan for the Pakistan Bar elections. He also specified that Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas should be notified as the opposition leaders in the National Assembly and Senate, respectively. He also gave a warning to party members who “play on both sides of the wicket,” stating they have “no place” in the party.

In response to the PTI protests, the Minister of State for Interior, Tallal Chaudhry, confirmed the imposition of Section 144 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, banning unlawful assembly, and warned that any violation would be met with strict action.
