Tragedy in Kohat: Six Police Martyred in Deadly Terrorist Attack
In a heartbreaking incident on Tuesday, six law enforcement personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), were martyred when terrorists ambushed a police vehicle in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to senior police officials, the tragic event occurred near Shakardara Road when the police van, which was transporting two individuals to a court hearing, came under heavy fire from armed assailants. The victims included a DSP, an inspector, and four constables. One of the individuals being transported was also killed in the attack. The terrorists set the vehicle on fire before fleeing the scene, prompting authorities to launch a large-scale search operation in the area.
Nation Mourns as Leaders Pay Tribute
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from national leaders. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow, paying tribute to the fallen heroes and offering condolences to their grieving families. KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi praised the police for their frontline role in the war against terrorism, stating that their sacrifices are a source of pride for the nation. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also acknowledged the unwavering resolve of the KP police in fighting extremism.

Rising Violence in the Region
This attack is part of a worrying surge in terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Recent reports show a sharp increase in fatalities, with similar incidents occurring in Karak and Bajaur districts. Just a day earlier, three Federal Constabulary personnel were martyred in Karak, highlighting the growing threats faced by security forces in the region.
