The Saudi-led coalition today issued a decisive warning to separatist forces in Yemen, affirming its full military support for the internationally recognized Yemeni government and demanding the immediate, peaceful withdrawal of Southern Transitional Council (STC) troops from recently seized provinces.

Coalition Position and Military Readiness
Following reported air strikes on separatist positions in the Hadramawt province, the coalition has signaled its readiness to escalate operations to restore territorial integrity. General Turki al-Malki, spokesperson for the coalition, stated that forces are prepared to act “directly and at the appropriate moment” to ensure the protection of civilian life and sovereign stability.
Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman underscored this position via social media, urging the STC to prioritize “reason” over confrontation. “It is time, at this sensitive moment, to let reason prevail by withdrawing from the two provinces and doing so peacefully,” the Minister stated, referring to the regional governorates currently under separatist occupation.

Escalation in Hadramawt and Mahrah
The warning follows a period of rapid territorial gains by the UAE-backed STC in the Hadramawt and Mahrah provinces. Despite Friday’s air strikes, separatist leaders have remained defiant, with reports of large-scale public demonstrations in Aden calling for the formal independence of South Yemen.
Military intelligence confirms that approximately 15,000 Saudi-backed fighters are currently amassed near the border. While these troops are awaiting final orders, their deployment at the edges of separatist-held territory underscores the coalition’s commitment to a military solution should diplomatic withdrawals fail.
International Calls for Restraint
The escalating situation has drawn immediate attention from Washington. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a call for de-escalation, stating, “We urge restraint and continued diplomacy, with a view to reaching a lasting solution.”

Strategic Implications
Analysts suggest the current standoff represents a critical “red line” for Riyadh. The public nature of the STC’s advances in Hadramawt—Yemen’s largest province—has placed significant pressure on the regional security architecture and the internal cohesion of the anti-Houthi alliance.
The Yemeni government has officially petitioned the coalition to “take all necessary military measures” to protect civilians and support national armed forces in reclaiming the occupied regions.
