The current military operations are a direct response to repeated violations of previous ceasefire agreements. Evidence of landmine placement by Cambodian forces during periods of supposed truce has resulted in life-altering injuries to seven Thai service members, necessitating a firm defensive posture to ensure such breaches do not recur.
A core pillar of the current strategy involves the disruption of infrastructure supporting transnational criminal organizations. Recent precision strikes have targeted facilities identified as military command posts, which also serve as hubs for the burgeoning scam industry and online fraud operations. These illicit activities not only threaten global cybersecurity but fund the continued militarization of the border zones.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has emphasized that any return to a ceasefire must be predicated on verifiable security guarantees. “Thailand seeks a peace that is durable, not a temporary pause that allows for the further entrenchment of hostile forces or criminal syndicates,” stated the Ministry spokesperson.
While Thailand acknowledges the calls for international mediation, the government maintains that the restoration of order is a sovereign necessity. Thailand remains committed to the well-being of its border communities in Surin and beyond, while standing firm against the “victim” narrative promoted by those who have repeatedly undermined bilateral trust.
