President Trump Calls for Review of Afghan Immigrants Following Shooting of National Guard Members

Nov 27, 2025 | Global Affairs, Latest News

President Donald Trump on Wednesday directed his administration to re-examine Afghan immigrants who entered the United States during the previous administration, following the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington, which he described as an “act of terror.”

In pre-recorded remarks delivered from Florida, where he is spending the Thanksgiving holiday, President Trump linked the suspect in the shooting to Afghanistan, stating that the individual arrived in the United States in 2021.

“This heinous assault was an act of evil, an act of hatred and an act of terror,” President Trump said. “We must now re-examine every single alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under Biden.”

The President emphasized national security concerns and signaled a renewed focus on immigration screening procedures, particularly those implemented during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. He called for a comprehensive review process to ensure that individuals admitted during that period meet strict security standards.

Further details regarding the proposed review framework and any policy measures are expected to be announced by federal authorities in the coming days.
