The nation of Pakistan today marked the first anniversary of “Marka-i-Haq,” the military conflict with India last year, with a renewed sense of national pride and unity. The Senate passed a resolution honoring the “exemplary sacrifices, courage, and dedication” of the armed forces, security institutions, and the entire nation for safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, national dignity, and security.

The resolution specifically lauded the “wise leadership” of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari for their efforts in promoting national unity and effectively highlighting Pakistan’s stance on the international stage. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was also commended for his “bold leadership, military strategy, and extraordinary service” in strengthening the morale and professional capabilities of the armed forces.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi shared insights into the events surrounding the conflict, stating that India had “pleaded for a ceasefire” through the United States, with Pakistan agreeing only after “teaching them a lesson.” He emphasized that the US President played a key role in achieving the truce.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar asserted that Pakistan had shattered India’s dreams of hegemony in South Asia during the conflict. He highlighted the symbolic defeat of India’s Rafale fighters and emphasized that Pakistan’s commitment to peace should not be mistaken for weakness.
Minister Tarar also referenced Prime Minister Sharif’s offer of a joint inquiry into the Pahalgam incident in Kashmir, underscoring Pakistan’s stance that New Delhi is the party spreading terrorism. He cited the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada and the arrest of Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav in Balochistan as evidence.
“We have demonstrated in clear terms that when it comes to the defense of Pakistan, the entire nation becomes united as we stand behind our forces like a wall of steel,” Minister Tarar stated.
The anniversary serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and its commitment to peace and stability in the region.
