The new “Schedule Call” option allows users to set a date and time for upcoming calls, whether individual or group, directly from the Calls tab. Participants receive reminders before the call begins, and scheduled calls appear under an “upcoming calls” list with attendee details and a shareable link.
To enhance group call management, WhatsApp also rolled out:
- Raise hand: to request to speak without interrupting.
- Emoji reactions: for real-time, non-verbal engagement.
- Join notifications: alerting call hosts when someone enters.
These updates mark a strategic shift for WhatsApp, positioning it as a more professional communication tool for teams, educators, and event organizers. Despite the new enterprise-like features, end-to-end encryption remains intact, ensuring user privacy.
