India Restores Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan

The Government of India has decided to restore the status of its Technical Mission in Kabul to that of the Embassy of India in Afghanistan with immediate effect.

This decision is in keeping with the announcement made during the recent visit of the Afghan Foreign Minister to India and underscores India’s resolve to deepen its bilateral engagement with the Afghan side in all spheres of mutual interest.

The restored Embassy will serve as a robust platform to further augment India’s comprehensive contributions to Afghanistan. Specifically, the mission will focus on:

• Comprehensive Development: Expanding and supporting various development projects across the country, aligning with the priorities and aspirations of Afghan society.
• Humanitarian Assistance: Continuing to facilitate and enhance the delivery of critical humanitarian aid, ensuring essential supplies reach the Afghan people.
• Capacity-Building Initiatives: Strengthening collaboration on initiatives aimed at enhancing the technical and institutional capabilities of the Afghan people.

India remains committed to maintaining a deep and constructive engagement with the people of Afghanistan. This restoration of the Embassy status reaffirms India’s active role as a responsible regional stakeholder contributing to the stability and progress of Afghanistan.
