Trump Issues Major Threat Over Iranian Strikes on Qatar

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a severe warning to Tehran, threatening to “massively blow up” the entirety of Iran’s South Pars gas field if the country launches any further attacks against Qatar. This escalation follows a series of volatile exchanges in the Gulf, beginning with an Israeli strike on the South Pars site, part of the world’s largest natural gas field. Iran retaliated by striking Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial area, home to the globe’s biggest liquefied natural gas processing facility. QatarEnergy confirmed that the Iranian strikes caused “extensive damage” to the site, though all personnel were safely accounted for.

In a strongly worded social media post, President Trump defended Qatar as a neutral party that was “in no way involved” with the initial Israeli operation. He stated that while he hopes to avoid such extreme destruction due to the long-term implications for the region, he will not hesitate to use unprecedented military strength to protect Qatari LNG assets. The conflict has already sent shockwaves through global energy markets, with oil prices leaping to nearly $110 a barrel and European gas prices more than doubling since the war began on February 28. In response to the strikes, Qatar has ordered Iranian diplomats to leave the country within 24 hours, describing Tehran’s actions as a “brazen” and direct threat to national security.
