Gen Z 212 Movement Issues Non-Negotiable Demands, Vows Continued Protests in Morocco

Youth Activist Group, Now Surpassing 250,000 Members, Reaffirms Call for Government Resignation and Systemic Reform

Gen Z 212, the anonymous, youth-led movement organizing mass daily anti-government protests across Morocco, today issued a formal statement to the media, asserting that demonstrations will continue until their core demands are fully met.

Organized primarily through the gaming-focused platform Discord, the movement has grown from four founders in mid-September to nearly a quarter of a million members, fueled by generational frustration over systemic corruption and the failure of essential public services.

“Morocco just needed a spark,” an anonymous organizer told DW. “The movement really started because of the bad situation in Morocco, that my generation has to endure. Health, education and a good living situation isn’t something we should have to demand, these are our rights. But greed took them from us.”

Non-Negotiable Demands

Gen Z 212 demands are structural, and they are not up for negotiation. We call for decisive action to address the root causes of national decline:

  1. The Immediate Resignation of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and the current government.
  2. Comprehensive Reforms of the education system.
  3. Comprehensive Reforms of the health system.
  4. The establishment of an Independent, Impartial Judiciary.

Decentralization and Anonymity: Our Strength

The movement’s decentralized structure, enabled by platforms like Discord, is the key to its resilience and rapid growth. This method ensures that the collective voice of the people—not a select few—drives action. Gen Z 212 uses online voting to decide next steps, ranging from daily protest locations to choosing how to respond to state violence.

We reject any attempts by political entities to engage in dialogue with unverified members or individuals claiming to speak for the movement.

“We will not be sitting at any bargaining table,” the organizer stressed. “There isn’t anything to bargain about, when it comes to health, education and a decent living situation.”

The movement will continue to innovate with peaceful, neighborhood-based protests and is committed to maintaining civic order, ensuring protests remain polite, and avoiding criticism of the country’s monarch.

The protests will continue. Democracy is always the way.
